Home-selling Blues

I'm gonna bitch. Okay. If you don't like it, then go away. I'm really sick of all the flakes, losers, and time-wasters. If you're not serious about buying a house, then don't waste my time!! If you are afraid someone's going to say "no," then don't get the seller's hopes up especially after they try to help you out! If fear is preventing you from getting that loan, then go back to your apartment and fuckin stay there for all I care. But TELL ME!! Don't bitch about the carpet, that can be changed! It's maddening when someone makes such a rediculous offer that to counter would be an exercise in futility. On an UNSIGNED offer form, no less!

I am not trying to sell this place for my health, either! This is really NO FUN! Too much stress. Now we are facing the real possibility of losing the house we want because NOBODY'S SERIOUS! We've priced competitively yet few actual lookers. Most flake out and don't even show or call. Real Estate is cutthroat, don't let anyone tell you differently. If I NEVER have to go through this shit again, it will be too goddam soon!

Okay, now that I've gotten that off my chest... what can I kill. ;P

Featured Book

If you'll look down the side-bar of my blog page, you will see that I am currently in the midst of a "dual-read." One of which I have to 'feature' here. It is called "Marley & Me," an absolutely endearing and hilarious account of the life of a Yellow Lab. A read I HIGHLY recommend.

Although I am merely half way through this book, I can safely say that you really get to know him almost as if he is right there with you. John Grogan writes in such vivid detail that the reader is experiencing this first-hand. I guarantee that if you have any regard for animals, you will be crying then laughing throughout this story.

I know Labs are nuts, but Marley really deserves the Pulitzer Prize for all-out nuttiness.

Update:

Just found out, the author has a website AND blog! Check it out! Then, again, doesn't EVERYONE have a website these days? ;)

Things that make you go, “WTF?!?!?!”

Today, my RE Agent called informing me of what I call a “non-offer.” Her partner showed our home this morning. The person had no Realtor at the time of showing.
Later this afternoon, my agent received an offer via fax. There were 3 major issues with it.

1) It was unsigned. That would make me stop and say, “WTF?” Then tell the bone- head that sent it to get real. Well, not in so many words.
2) Although he told my agent that he had no realtor, this fax came from one.
3) Worse of all, his offer was absurd. More than $20,000 less than our asking price.

Either this dope is on crack or is an investor. Possibly just a complete moron. My agent feared I may be really angry. However, why get mad? He’s not worth it. I have a saying, “Rave on Cat-shit! Somebody’ll cover you up!” That’s about it.

Very strange weather for the latter part of March in Southern Nevada! We had a cold front blow through packing a One-Two punch! In the morning, it rained. And it RAINED. Dumped a lot of snow on the surrounding mountains and the obvious traffic snarl’s. Then, it seemed to clear up. Then, suddenly, early in the afternoon, BAM! And I mean BAM! Darkness fell across the land, there was a flash then BAM! Thunder rolled across the Valley, brining with it sleet and maybe a little snow. None of it stuck, but it made for some fascinating weather!

Enough to make one go, “WTF?!?!?!” *chuckle*~

The Latest

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last entry so I thought it wise to update.

For the past two weekends, we have had Open Houses. The first weekend was an utter failure. So much that we about lost hope. Then, it dawned on me that Nascar was in town and, of course, the dismal weather. Although Sunday was nicer, it did not translate into anything promising. So, we’ve lowered the price in hopes of bringing in more potential buyers.

This last weekend, we figured that we had nothing to lose but relaxing time, and not much of that since we would have to essentially be on stand-by for potential buyers. So, we allowed for another weekend OH and the final. Saturday was not terribly encouraging. However, Sunday was much more promising. As of today, there are 2 potential offers (nothing concrete or inked as of yet) and one scheduled to view Tuesday morning based upon a referral. Though hopeful, we are optimistic since this is the closest we have come to an actual offer. I won’t be celebrating until the contract is legal and the ink is dry, however. Then, and only then, can we move forward on the new house.

Your continued positive thoughts and prayers are requested and appreciated. One thing we have done is taken a St. Joseph statue and buried it in the front yard near the door in hopes of the legend coming true for us. Seemingly enough, it has already made a difference. Although, I wonder if perhaps it was the lower price that has interested more people.

I am looking forward to all this being completed and in the new house. Not as much for the house but the stress factor. Whomever said that this was an exciting time was quite the masochist and completely out of their mind. We will be happy when we finally have this one sold and settled in the new one.

The latest at work is I'll be updating the Windows Server by doubling the RAM (memory) and applying the latest ServicePack. It's only Windows 2000, but it gets the job done. Once it has been upgraded and patched, we'll be migrating to Active Directory which will eliminate a number of issues. This will be a large project for Q2. Otherwise, it's just the same old BS in different forms, different days.
