Art in the Park

Yesterday, we went to Boulder City and checked out "Art in the Park" (Fart in the Dark? *chuckle*) and actually had a pretty good time! We looked at all the high-priced hand crafts, listened to some really ecclectic music (a group called Andean Nation who played, you guessed it, Andean ethnic music, but really classified as World/New Age). We also toured the famed "Haunted" Boulder City Hotel. There, we enjoyed the Hoover Dam Museum. Pictured below are a couple of pictures we took inside the museum.

Pictured to the left are some of the tools used by workers on the Dam. There were a number of other tools used, many developed for the project. As the Dam(n) tour states, there was absolutely nothing wasted. Workers crafted their own furniture, lighting, even eating utensils out of materials found onsite. Also another interesting fact was that during the summer months, they would sleep UNDER the bungalows, going topside only to wet their blankets in order to keep cool.

Pictured below is a man that looks strikingly similar to my late grandfather.

Attending functions such as these, one tends to run into people they know. On this one occasion, however, we managed to make a couple of new friends... but with friends like these, who needs enemies! *chuckle*

And it is said that a picture is worth a thousand words... 'nuf sed!
