Arizona Trip, Thanksgiving

My apologies to my loyal visitors for the lack of posts lately. Just not been motivated or inspired lately. Your continued visits are greatly appreciated, so please don't give up on me, I should soon have some new inspiration to write again.

---------------------------------------------------------
Recently returned from Arizona to help celebrate my Better Half's step-dad's 80th Birthday. Was one helluva celebration. It was held at a local Golf Club and the theme was based upon all the things he's done over his lifetime. From farming to automotive mechancs, he's pretty much done it all. Turnout was great, lots of people and the food was good too! This man has relatives from all over the US as far east as Michigan, who, by the way, were not expected to show up! But when they did, was he ever overwhelmed. It was an amazing day for him and I was proud to be a part of it.

At 80, Hank is very active, despite his handicap. He has a metal and wood-working shop where he's constructed, repaired and even invented a few things. Builds furniture and other useful things out of the saguaro cactus (sample pictured here). He's taken two electric carts, one working and the other not, and has turned one into a "power cart" where he's able to get up close to his work and the other, from the spare parts of the first, made it run even better. I think Hank is an inspiration to us all and an example that no matter how old you are chronologically, you are as young as you think you are!

The following are some pics taken on our way there. I will post a few pictures from the actual party once I receive permission from my girl's parents.

Some amazing Arizona sunsets!

Holbrook, which I believe was the "setting" for the movie/cartoon "Cars."

One amazing woman! :) Tawnie taking a break from video-taping the festivities.

It was an enjoyable trip. Getting to know Hank was an experience. He even makes his own fudge! No recipe, no measuring devices, simply his two hands (clean, of course! *chuckle*)

Thanksgiving was quiet, just Tawnie and Josh (and myself, of course!) Tawnie prepared an EXCELLENT bird of16 lbs. There were all the "trimmings" of course and the usual Pumkin and french apple pies. We got stuffed like turkeys. (sic)

That's 'bout it for now. :) Again, sorry for the wait!
