Life After the Big "D"

Yes, there IS life after the Big "D" and I DON'T mean Dallas! As lonely as it is, I do believe we are both happier for the decision. I find apartment living passable, but still prefer my own place. Hopefully, if I can get back to work soon enough, I'd like to move into a house by the end of the lease.

In my profession, however, it is not that easy to start where you've left off after being laid off. A step back (sometimes two) is mandatory. Okay, so I've done the Help Desk thing again, now it's time to use my skills rather than warming a seat and holding the floor down. Too bad the people you owe money to like Telco or Gas/Electric, even Landlords are NOT forgiving. Money still goes out regardless of what comes in (or not). But I have to keep plugging away, to give up would be worse than admitting defeat. Besides, I need to keep the roof over my head and my truck. No quitting. Discouraging as it may be, I KNOW there will be an end to this and I will be back to work wondering where my time is. :)

Railroading has been put on hold although Josh and I do occasionally run the train when I go to the house. Since my schedule has been so unpredictable, I've managed to fit in a little rail-fanning. Here are some pix taken the other day.

Not bad with a camera phone, eh?

Please keep a friend of mine in your thoughts and prayers as he has suffered a stroke and is currently in ICU. Fortunately, despite the bleak prognosis of 20% survival, he's actually doing well. His wife is very encouraged by his progress. When visiting him the other day, he seemed lucid and recognized me, so that is a good sign too.
