Ya THINK?

July 31, 2005 - 5 Months Left This Year!

Where has the year gone? It seems only yesterday we were watching the Ball drop on Times Square. So much has happened in so little time! Are we accelerating to destruction? No, I think time just goes by faster as you grow older. Come to think of it, in just a month, I turn the Big 4-Oh. Oh, crap. Nearly middle aged. Once again, time seems to be winning the battle. There's no stopping it, it just keeps on turning.

Before we know it, it will be 2006! UGH! Well, one thing I plan to do before the year's out is trade in my truck. The lease is up a the end of '05. Currently, I have an '03. What do you think of the new design of the Ford F-150? I think it's certainly a step in the right direction. Even test drove one a while back and there are many improvements, including quieter cab and a smoother ride. Anyway, to my point. Since I learned to drive in a 1965 Ford F-100 (yep, same year I was born), I plan to make sure I get a 2005 F-150 this time. Celebrating 40 years of that old heap which is probably in pieces now. But there were some great memories... like "fun" at Lake Miramar with my wife, though she wasn't my wife then! *chuckle* Maybe we can recapture them.... ;) Seriously, I plan to pick out a red one, since my old truck was red and I even remember the license plate which I plan to personalize on the new one. Nostalgic, perhaps, but it might be fun to sorta bring back the past. Or is it a "blast from the past?" Who knows, whatever it is, that's my goal before the end of this year: Get into a RED 2005 F-150, personalize the plates to commemorate the old Red Truck. Hell, might even just put "Red Truck" or something like that on the plate! Then recapturing old memories...

Then, my boy starts the 7th Grade next month! Kids grow up way too fast. I still remember changing his diapers, holding him on one arm. Though he's taller than his mom now, weighing in at 117lbs, it is hard to believe that just 12-1/2 years ago, he fit right on my forearm! Considering his birth weight at 4.13 lbs, he's turning into quite a guy! He's overcome all odds and now is an accomplished sax player and 4th-Degree Blue Belt in Kung Fu. Probably could take out his Ol' Man if he wanted to!

We have now lived in Southern Nevada for 14 years, and 5 of those in this very house. This month, in fact! Moved in on July 27, 2000. Even in those 5 short years, things have changed so drastically. The nearest freeway to our house was approximately 3 miles away, now one is just over 3 City Blocks!

Though these are just a few examples, it goes to show that if you blink, life passes you by before you know it.
