Rail Fanning

Okay, I've decided to cross that line. When I first started this blog, I promised not to do much discussion of railroading. That's gonna change effective immediately. It's my blog and I'll "railroad" it if I want to!!! *chuckle*

The following are pictures of the UP RR sightings in my area, taken with my Motorola RAZR v3 camera phone.

For the Trekkers

If you like Star Trek, even just a little, you may be interested to know that we met Wil Wheaton, who played Wesley Crusher in “Star Trek-The Next Generation.” Apparently, Wil is now living in Las Vegas and plays Poker for a living! The thing that amazed me most about him was the fact that he was genuinely curious about who the hell I was and not acting like a celeb that was just spotted by a fan. No, not Wil. We also enjoyed a very nice but brief conversation about blogs and Star Trek.

My wife was actually the one that knew him through her blog and a copyright issue she experienced with Wal Mart which was highly publicized on the web as well as many newspapers. So, this was their first “real life” meeting as well.

No, I did not ask for his autograph, nor did I drool all over him, but my wife did! Just kidding. Although I do not do that sort of thing anyway unless they’re hot chicks. *chuckle*

This had occurred at the Rio Hotel and Casino where we had also met Penn Jilette of Penn & Teller. I have to tell you, the man is grumpy and not terribly friendly. Oh well, I bet he is approached by more people than he can count and probably is weary of stupid questions like, “Aren’t you…?” or “Didn’t I see you on…?”

By the way, if you’re in Vegas whether visiting or actually living here and interested in a real feast, don’t miss Yolie’s Brazilian Steakhouse, which actually emphasizes the BBQ (Not your American-style BBQ, mind you). Located near Flamingo on Paradise Rd., the establishment is upstairs in a cozy environment. The food is barbequed behind a glass where if you’re seated properly, you can actually watch as it is cooked. The food and service are EXCELLENT! We have been there 3 times over the years and never tire of it. Very suitable for special occasions.
