Let the Bidding Wars Begin!
FINALLY! A LEGITIMATE offer! Someone actually serious about our house has arrived. Yesterday, I received a call from a realtor that had shown the house on Thursday. While I had a good feeling about this one, I kept it to myself until the 2nd showing. This one just felt “right.” And I do believe we “planted” ol’ Saint Joseph in the front planter box just two weeks prior. *chuckle*
Then, the call from my Agent announcing that we can expect what the buyer’s Agent considers a “fair” offer. She also wanted to see the house yet a 3rd time yesterday afternoon. That amounted to little more than a drive-by, which is just fine. Soak it all in.
Not a word was said to any colleagues, friends, other members of the family about this. With the exception of Josh, we kept it under wraps until we had confirmation of a real offer, which actually was quite reasonable. While coming in only 3K below our asking price, the buyer did ask something quite peculiar, nearly 9K in incentives. “Okay, then,” I said, “We’ll see the 9K, and raise them 1K.” In effect, raising the price by 8K, or thereabouts, so about 10K is actually realized by the buyer. Who has 10K in their pocket to simply GIVE away? Not many that I know of.
We launch the Counter Offer this morning.
